Dear Friends,

I hope you and your family had a happy Thanksgiving, and I send warm wishes for the holiday season ahead.

This month has been a busy one on Beacon Hill with many significant bills being debated and receiving final passage in the legislature, including pension reform, human trafficking, transgender equal rights, casinos, and the completion of the redistricting process (see below for more details). The House also passed bills dealing with repeat violent offenders, clamping down on scrap metal theft, and banning the use of credit scores in setting auto insurance rates.

Back home, I joined Senator Pat Jehlen for a lively Community Forum at the Jenks Senior Center, and I participated in a Stoneham School Commitee meeting to discuss the important project underway to build a new middle school.

I was also pleased to see the new report from the Mass Budget and Policy Center which makes a strong case for the need to reform our school funding formula. You can see this report at massbudget.org.

Best wishes,
